The ARC is running a Pilot Submission to assist Universities preparing their systems to support ERA. VU will be making a test submission using the pilot guidelines. 'Pilot Submission Guidelines' and 'SEER Technical Specifications' are available from the ARC website .
A key platform of ERA will be a complete set of ‘Ranked Outlets’ that, in combination with other research metrics, will be used to measure research quality. The ARC has now released the draft ‘Ranked Outlets’ and asked all Australian universities to provide feedback. The Ranked Outlets list currently comprises 19,500 journals, each with an A*, A, B or C ranking, and one more Fields of Research (FOR) codes.
We have been asked to provide feedback on as many of the listed journals as possible. Please take the opportunity to review the listed journals within your area of expertise. The ARC has provided a excel spreadsheet that lists the journals and allows the journals to be filtered by FOR codes.

Make sure that you open the spreadsheet with macros enabled so that you can take advantage of the special filters and other functionality built in by the ARC. You are able to either affirm the details provided for a journal or suggest a change to the ranking or FOR codes. You will be requested to justify any changes.
If ERA is to be successful it is crucial that the ranked outlet lists are as well developed as they can be. The only way 19,500 journals can be ranked is with the assistance of all researchers. Your assistance in both affirming journal details and suggesting changes is critical to the process.
